How Are You Today?
I don’t know about you, but I don’t always find self-care easy.
Give me a list of jobs to do for other people and I’m straight on it. No hesitation. But when it comes to carving out time for myself? That’s a different story.
And it’s not that I don’t want to. I know the benefits. I know how much better I feel afterwards. Yet somehow, my own needs are the first thing to be nudged aside when life gets busy — and life always gets busy.
So why is it so hard?
Maybe it’s because somewhere along the way, we’ve absorbed the message that putting ourselves first is indulgent.
Maybe we’ve been taught that productivity is the measure of our worth.
Maybe it’s simply that there’s always something — or someone — calling for our attention, and it feels easier to meet those needs than to pause and meet our own.
But here’s the truth: looking after yourself isn’t selfish. It’s necessary.
When you’re rested, nourished, and connected to who you are, the world gets the best of you. Your energy is steadier. Your patience runs deeper. Your joy is closer to the surface. And those around you feel the benefit too.
The good news? Self-care doesn’t have to be grand or expensive.
It can be as simple as:
☕ Sitting with your morning coffee in silence for five minutes
🚶♀️ Taking a slow walk and noticing the changing seasons
📖 Reading a few pages of a book that makes you smile
🛁 Running a bath and letting your mind wander
These small acts are not “treats” to be earned. They’re the everyday maintenance your mind, body, and soul quietly crave.
So today, I’m inviting you to give yourself permission. Permission to pause. Permission to choose something just for you. Permission to believe that your wellbeing matters — not as an afterthought, but as a foundation.
Because the truth is simple:
You don’t have to wait for the perfect moment to take care of yourself.
The perfect moment is right now.
